It's been over two months since the last Northeast Stock Report, so it's time to queue it up one…
Huggins Coming to Town
"We'll be there this weekend," Savon's dad Wendell confirmed. "We were up before, but Savon wants to see the gameday atmosphere of Notre Dame, the prestige, tradition and check everything out. He wants to get a feel for the campus when they're in school. He likes it a lot though."
During his first visit Savon had a chance to talk to the Notre Dame coaching staff about Brian Kelly's offense and how they planned to utilize his talent. Six games into Notre Dame's season, the offense will certainly be the focal point as well.
"They run the spread," Wendell said. "That's one of the main things he's focusing on. He's a strong, downhill runner and he wants to talk to the coaching staff and see how he fits into what they're looking to do. They told him before that he'd get about 20-25 touches a game. Touches are different than carries. Touches can come from kick-off, punt return, receiving the ball… there are various ways to get the ball.
"The whole plan for this weekend is to sit down with the coaching staff and find out what their plan for Savon would be with what they want to do on offense. We just want to get a feel for how they're going to utilize his skills and his strengths."
Savon has scholarship offers from nearly every top program in the country, but he recently narrowed his list of schools to five: Rutgers, Notre Dame, Florida, Pittsburgh and North Carolina. Rutgers has long been considered the leader in this race, although Huggins hasn't given any indication of a favorite publically.
Through five games, Huggins has over 800 yards rushing and 13 touchdowns.
Scout.com's Scott Kennedy on Huggins: A shifty runner capable of making multiple cuts in a single run. Has excellent vision and the running instincts to set up a second tackler while running by a first. Runs with a good center of gravity and low pad level. His combination of balance and low center of gravity make him nearly impossible to get a clean hit on and he must be wrapped up to be brought down. He keeps his feet moving in traffic and runs with surprising power.
