Wynn excited about Irish offer

After a strong showing along the defensive front in the Class of 2011, Notre Dame is leaving no stone unturned in looking to build even more depth in the Class of 2012. One of the newest players to earn an offer from the Irish, is Courtnye Wynn. Irish Eyes spoke with Courtnye about his newest offer.

With six scholarship offers already on the board, Courtnye, of Norfolk (VA) Christian has not had much time to think about the recruiting process. Having helped the football team win a Division III State Championship, Wynn went right to basketball having finished off his season on Saturday night with another State Championship win. While he has been told about his scholarship offers, Wynn has not had much of a chance to speak with many of the coaches from the programs who have offered.

"I have only been to Virginia Tech and Virginia as of now. I plan on making a visit to Notre Dame this summer."

While Courtnye has yet to speak with an Irish coach, he does know Notre Dame is one of the top programs in the country.

"I know Notre Dame is a great school and that I am excited to have a scholarship offer from them. It's one of the great schools in the country for academics and football."

When asked to describe his strengths and weakness on the football field, the 6-foot-6, 240-pound two-sport standout, knows his basketball background has helped him on the football field.

"I feel I have great lateral movement from playing basketball. I am able to move sideways and that helps me get around offensive linemen and get to the quarterback. I know I still need some work on my footwork and on getting faster."

With basketball over, Wynn will jump right into football mode working on getting bigger, stronger, and faster.

"I cannot wait to get in the weight room and to work on my speed. I am also excited about getting to some combines and showing what I can do."

Irish Eyes will continue to follow the recruiting developments of Courtnye Wynn and his interest in Notre Dame.
