Simmons open to leaving California

Five-Star prospect Jordan Simmons has many options when it comes to selecting the right college program. Notre Dame is one of several looking to draw this major prospect out of the West Coast. Is Simmons open to leaving California?

With an offer list too deep to mention, Jordan Simmons of Encino (CA) Crespi Carmelite High School knows his options are wide open. When it comes to Notre Dame, the 6-foot-5, 333-pound offensive lineman is open.

"Notre Dame is a program I am looking into to see what they have. I know they have a lot of tradition."

While Simmons has not visited the Notre Dame campus, he is open to a future visit.

"I am looking to get out there pretty soon and visit them."

Coach Denbrock is Jordan's main recruiter for the Irish and the two are working on building a solid relationship.

"Coach Denbrock and I email back a forth a lot. He has told me I would be a perfect fit at Notre Dame with the way they run their offense and it would be a great experience for me overall."

Despite being out west, Simmons is open to leaving the state.

"I have no problem leaving California for the right school. I did not grow up a fan of any one school. I am just a big football fan and love watching football."

Despite being a Scout.com 5-Star prospect, Simmons knows there is work still needed to his game.

"I feel I need to keep working on my foot work and keeping my pad level lower."

As for any visits this spring, look for local ones only if Simmons take any at all.

"I might go and check out a few of the local schools. I am not sure yet."

Irish Eyes will be keeping tabs on Jordan in the coming weeks to see if the Irish staff can get him on campus for a visit.
