Schutt Enjoyed First Visit to Notre Dame

One prospect Notre Dame was looking to have a good visit with this weekend was Tommy Schutt. Irish Eyes spoke with Schutt about his visit and more.

Saturday found Scout.com 4-star defensive tackle prospect Tommy Schutt on the campus of Notre Dame looking to learn more about the Irish. For Schutt, it was his first visit to campus.

"It was my first time there," Schutt told Irish Eyes on Sunday afternoon. "It was a real good visit and there was a good atmosphere. I had a chance to meet all the coaches and I really enjoyed it."

While unable to stay for the spring game, Schutt was able to spend some time with Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly, defensive line coach Mike Elston and his main recruiter Chuck Martin.

"Coach Martin has been in school a couple of times and I talk with him often. So it was good to have a chance to go up there and spend some time with him. I was not able to stay for the game so I was only there for the morning. I got a tour of campus and a tour of all the facilities while there.

"I also sat down with Coach Kelly and then Coach Elston who showed me some film from the Michigan State game last season and gave me the whole rundown of what my job would be in their defense."

Looking back, Tommy came away impressed with everything he saw and has a favorable impression on the Irish.

"Notre Dame is definitely a school I have interest in. The coaching staff and their personalities you can tell they are very professional. You can tell just by talking with the people there, Notre Dame is a good place. I got along with everyone and it was a good visit."

With an impressive offer list, Tommy Schutt has a lot to think about as he breaks down the schools he has interest in attending. While some might read too much into him not staying for the spring game, it looks as if his visit was successful enough to keep his interest in the Irish.

Irish Eyes will continue to follow the recruitment of Tommy Schutt until he makes his decision known.
