Prestwood Bound for Notre Dame?

Jordan Prestwood

Former Plant City (Fla.) High offensive tackle Jordan Prestwood is leaving Florida State, and his destination is likely to be Notre Dame.

Paperwork and a few administrative hurdles need to be cleared, but it appears Notre Dame will finally wind up with former Plant City (Fla.) High offensive tackle Jordan Prestwood.

The 6-foot-6, 285-pound Prestwood received his release from Florida State and plans to enroll at Notre Dame, according to a source in Florida.

The decision comes after Prestwood received his release earlier in the day, but it certainly doesn't come as a shock. Talk of Prestwood transferring out of Florida State surfaced shortly after he enrolled in January.

Prestwood was a four-star recruit and rated No. 10 among offensive tackles in Scout.com's 2011 recruiting class.

It is a circuitous route for Prestwood to land at the school he originally committed to attend. Prestwood committed to Notre Dame in October, but switched his decision a month later before enrolling early.

Under NCAA transfer rules, Prestwood will have to sit out the 2011 season. When he is eligible to play in 2012, he will have four years remaining.
