Running back will be a big need in recruiting this year. The Irish staff will be searching for the best running backs in the country and will have opportunity to sell. One player the Irish will likely look at is Grand Rapids, MI star Justin Hoskins. The 5-11, 190-pound back has been receiving a lot of attention from the top schools in the BIG 10 area as well as schools from out the area. Notre Dame also appears interested in Hoskins.

Justin Hoskins had a good junior season rushing for over 1,800 yards and 23 touchdowns and has run a personal best 4.3 in the 40-yard dash. Hoskins also participates in track with a personal best of 10.6 in the 100 meters and owns the state record in long jump with a jump of 23 feet and seven inches. Hoskins was at a track meet when I called but I spoke with his Dad, Osbe Hoskins Jr.

"He hasn't received any offers yet but he has a lot of potential and coaches have been saying they will offer," said Osbe. "Everyone in the BIG 10 area has been writing. Michigan in particular. Ohio State, Wisconsin, Michigan State. A lot of out of the area schools like Colorado, Nebraska, Mia and Notre Dame as well."

Hoskins grew up a Michigan fan but Osbe said he is open to anyone who wants to recruit him. "He grew up cheering for the big Blue. He has an uncle that went to Michigan State. He likes all the BIG 10 schools and really likes the Florida Gators a lot, Miami. Notre Dame is a school he is really interested in. They have a great coach and they are turning their program around. I think his heart is in the Midwest area but it will be his decision."

Hoskins is also a good student. "He has a 3.0 core GPA and took the SAT last year and got a really good score. He is fully qualified."

The Creston high school prospect also know what he is looking for in a school. "He is looking for a school that has a good education and a school that can offer him opportunities beyone college. He wants to go to a school that has a good program and I'm sure the coaches will be important to him."

Hoskins plans to attend Michigan camp this summer and just attended the Nike Michigan Camp last weekend.

Osbe said Notre Dame is definitely in the picture. "They are in the picture. Notre Dame needs an impact player. I like Notre Dame and he does as well. They have a great education and program."

Comments. The comments section is use for my own personal thoughts and not necessarily the comments or thoughts of the prospect. I think Notre Dame will have a shot at Hoskins but I think Michigan will be very difficult to beat if they offer. Hoskins is obviously a great athlete and track will likely play a role in his decision as well. His speed will be coveted and I expect quite a few of the schools in the BIG 10 region to offer. I will keep an eye on him.
