Oaks Christian High (Westlake Village, Calif.) four-star receiver Jordan Payton will make an official visit to Notre Dame this weekend, and then will make a decision shortly thereafter. Payton told IrishEyes.com when he will announce his decision, and which team is in the lead.

Notre Dame will get a chance to make the last impression with Oaks Christian High (Westlake Village, Calif.) four-star receiver Jordan Payton, and make up ground.

The 6-foot-2, 205-pound Payton will make an official visit to South Bend, Ind., this weekend for the USC game, and announce his school choice next Tuesday.

"A week seems like a good time to do it," Payton said. "I just seem ready and want to get it done with to focus on the season."

Payton is down to California, Michigan and Notre Dame, and Oaks Christian coach Bill Redell said there is a leader.

"I think he's leaning toward Michigan and I think he tells me after this trip to Notre he'll make up his mind shortly after that," Redell said. "He's a little non-committal right now."

However, Payton acknowledged the Wolverines are his leader.

"They are definitely a leader, for sure," he said.

Payton made an official visit to Michigan the first weekend of September, and his trip to Notre Dame will begin Saturday morning and run through Monday morning.

It will be his first trip to South Bend, and he is looking forward to it.

"I'm just looking at the atmosphere and the school and everything about it," Payton said. "I'm just looking forward to seeing it. I know about all the tradition, all the great tradition of past. "I've always grown up watching ND and always grew up a fan and just excited to see it."

Payton, who is the 12th-ranked receiver in the 2012 class, added even if he makes his decision next week, he could make an official visit to Cal later in the season.

"Cal seemed to be really high on his list," Redell said. "I think when it comes down to going away from home …it's a lot easier for his family to make the trip to Cal."

Wherever Payton chooses, the school will be getting a big-time receiver.

"He's got deceptive speed," Redell said. "Not a (Robert) Woods-type speed. He's got deceptive speed. He's not a blazer, and he's really good after he catches the ball. He can catch the ball in a crowd. He needs to be a little more consistent when catching the ball. He's a real tough kid, will block well. He's good at slowing down and speeding up."
