Standifer Not Close to Decision

With Notre Dame looking to bolster their defensive backfield in the class of 2012, Crete (Ill.) Monee High School cornerback Anthony Standifer is getting ready for an official visit with the Irish. IrishEyes.com checks in with Standifer for the latest, which includes an interesting update on when he will decide.

Crete, Illinois cornerback Anthony Standifer thought he had things all figured out when he gave Michigan his verbal pledge at the start of June.

However, things changed as Standifer and Michigan both agreed to go their separate ways in early December.

With the change, Notre Dame is back in the picture as Standifer prepares for an official visit with the Irish next weekend.

What is the latest news on Standifer?

"Overall, I'm back open and I have all of my officials left," said Standifer. "I have two officials planned with one being Notre Dame (Jan. 20) and the other to Boise State (Jan. 27).

"I'm excited about my Notre Dame visit just because it's Notre Dame. I was supposed to take an official there the day after I committed."

With signing day fast approaching, Standifer stresses he's in no hurry.

"Now that I'm back and being recruiting I've decided to not rush my decision this time and take all five of my official visits," explained Standifer. "This time I want to get an overall view of each school before deciding which school I'll be going to. Right now I won't be signing on signing day."

Other programs showing interest and ones that could see a visit in the future include Nebraska and Miami (Fla.) who called during our interview.
