Complete package tight end capable of running all the routes asked and not afraid to stick on the line and block in the trenches.
At 220-pounds Heuerman will need to continue to get bigger and stronger. This does not look like a problem as he's already showing natural weight gain without losing athletic ability.
Heuerman is skilled as a receiver as well as a blocker. On film he shows the ability to get squared with a solid base and battle speed rushers or players with great physical size. Unlike most receiving tight ends, Heuerman is not afraid to mix it up on the line.
While all great tight ends need to block, it's their ability to stretch the field and make plays. This is no problem for Heuerman as shows the ability to up shop 5-10 yards down field making a much needed catch or by stretching the field deep with the ability to go up and catch the ball at its highest point.
This combination makes Heuerman one of the top tight end prospects in the country for the 2013 class and the reason Notre Dame is working hard to attract him to the program.
With his older brother at Ohio State look for the Buckeyes to hold an early advantage with Heuerman if they offer. Heuerman knows the Irish love using the tight end as a receiver and not just a blocker and this will help in their efforts to attract the Naples (FL.) native to the Midwest.
Distance will not play a factor with Notre Dame as Heuerman has already told IrishEyes.com back when he received his Irish offer he's looking for what feels right.
This is a top target for the Irish in the 2013 class and the future without Tyler Eifert has a need for another playmaker at the position. Heuerman has all the skills you'll want from an athletic tight end.
