Analyzing 2013: Receiver Targets, Part I

James Onwualu

Recruiting for the class of 2013 is in full swing, and Notre Dame smack in the middle of identifying and offering prospects. Trying to make sense of it all can be confusing, so IrishEyes.com continues its series in which it will provide a unit-by-unit breakdown of Notre Dame's top offered targets. This edition hits on the receivers.

‘Tis the season for offers to be flying out left and right, and the picture is muddied by the fact written offers cannot be received until the start of a prospects senior year.

The spring evaluation period is approaching, classes are already being formed and targets are already in Notre Dame's crosshairs.

To help make sense of the new recruiting class, and to give an indication of where prospects stand in their recruitment, IrishEyes.com is in the middle of a series of position-by-position breakdowns of players Notre Dame has offered.

(Please note more offers are going out.)

This edition focuses on receivers in the 2013 class. Here is a look at the offered targets:

Ahmad Fulwood, 6-4, 200, Bishop Kenny High, Jacksonville, Fla.
The Skinny: He was a autumn offeree for the Irish and he said he is interested in taking a look at the school. However, after a recent Alabama visit he named Florida, Clemson, Georgia and Ohio State as the schools making a hard run at him.

Richard Benjamin, 6-1, 180, Middleton High, Tampa
The Skinny: Another early offeree, Benjamin is being recruited hard by teams in the southeast. He said he is hearing the most from Florida, Miami, Vanderbilt, Ohio State, South Florida and Florida State. He will graduate in December and enroll in January.

Reggie Davis, 5-11, 180, Lincoln High, Tallahassee, Fla.
The Skinny: If Florida offers, the Gators are the team to beat. He just made a visit there and has two teammates in the fold with the Gators. Corey Robinson, 6-4, 195, San Antonio (Texas) Christian School
The Skinny: The son of former NBA star David Robinson, the younger one picked up an offer last week and is interested. He attended last year's Notre Dame against Navy and is looking at a return visit. He also likes Stanford a lot.

Alvin Bailey, 5-11, 175, Armwood High, Seffner, Fla.
The Skinny: He holds a Notre Dame offer, but has plenty of programs ahead of him. He recently gave Scout.com a top five and it was Florida, South Carolina, USF, Arkansas and Alabama.

Devin Lauderdale, 5-10, 170, Bellaire (Texas) High
The Skinny: After he committed to Texas Tech a bunch of other schools offered, including Alabama and Oklahoma State. He is electric with the ball in his hands, and getting him to campus for a visit is key.

Steven Mitchell, 5-10, 180, Bishop Alemany High (Mission Hills, Calif.)
The Skinny: Mitchell got an offer from Notre Dame but quickly named USC and Oregon his co-leaders. He added UCLA to the list of schools high on his radar but did mention he wanted to make an official visit to Notre Dame's campus in the fall.

James Onwualu, 6-1, 185, Cretin Derham Hall, St. Paul, Min.
The Skinny: Notre Dame will get a spring visit from Onwuala, who already made visits to Iowa and Michigan. He also plans on making a visit to Stanford, but the Irish will be strong contenders.

Notre Dame also offered Terry High's (Rosenberg, Texas) Derrick Griffin (Texas A&M), Sealy (Texas) High's Ricky Seals-Jones (Texas commit) and South Fort Meyers (Fla.) High's Jayron Kearse (Miami) but each committed to other schools.
