James Onwualu was going to announce his college decision Thursday during a ceremony at this school.
Instead, the 6-foot-1, 185-pound receiver from Cretin-Derham Hall (Minn.) decided to public with his decision to commit to Notre Dame tonight.
He chose the Irish over other finalists Stanford, Minnesota and Michigan.
"Each time I visited Notre Dame, the pull became stronger,'' Onwualu told the St. Paul (Minn.) Pioneer Press. "When I visited other schools, I kept comparing them to Notre Dame."
Onwuau made 25 catches for 356 yards and four touchdowns as a junior. He also rushed 68 times for 474 yards and seven scores.
