Notre Dame is one of the many programs showing up at Columbus (Ohio) Bishop Hartley High and the Irish have a good reason with 5-foot-11, 175-pound ultra smooth Alonzo Saxton
starting to blow-up in the recruiting world.
"Coach (Mike) Elston and coach (Chuck) Martin have stopped in to see me," said Saxton. "I've been talking with coach Elston most of the time. They say they are interested and their big thing is academics. That is a good thing as I feel it will be a good fit for me academically. I plan on calling him this weekend to see what is up."
Another thing that could help the Irish is a close friendship with current safety Eilar Hardy who Saxton has known for a few years.
"I think knowing Eilar will help me a lot," said Saxton. "He would give me more insight and he would be able to give me the pros and cons of Notre Dame. Hopefully there would be more pros than cons as he's been through it for two years and he knows the game plan. So I would take his word under serious consideration."
Another voice of reason could come from current high school teammate and Irish pledge Jacob Matuska.
"I talk with Jacob a lot and he's telling me good things about them," said Saxton. "So I'm hearing good reviews from him, but I'll have to check it out myself."
With a very good friend already part of the Notre Dame football program and a current high school teammate a 2013 pledge, Alonzo Saxton will have plenty of help in learning more about the Irish.
2014 defensive back Alonzo Sexton is hearing good reports on Notre Dame from two close sources.
