Projected Depth Chart: Offense

Notre Dame has four more practices before the first game week of the 2012 season. Where do the team's starters and key reserves stand entering the home stretch?

A look at Notre Dame's projected depth chart as game week approaches.
(The number in parenthesis represents each player's remaining eligibility entering the 2012 season.)

Left Tackle:
- Senior Zack Martin 6'4" 304 (2)
- Freshman Ronnie Stanley 6'6" 304 (4/5)
- Sophomore Nick Martin 6'4" 290 (4)
Notes: Sophomore (redshirt-freshman) Jordan Prestwood left the team during August camp.

Left Guard:
- Senior Chris Watt 6'3" 310 pounds (2)
- Sophomore Conor Hanratty 6'5" 305 pounds (4)
- Junior Bruce Heggie 6'5" 285 (3)
Notes: No attrition at the position to date; its likely right guard Nick Martin would play over Heggie in a pinch.

Center:
- 5th-year senior Braxston Cave 6'3" 304 pounds (1)
- 5th-year senior Mike Golic, Jr. 6'3" 295 pounds (1)
- Sophomore Matt Hegarty 6'5" 296 pounds (4)
Notes: Should Cave go down, Golic, the team's starting right guard, would likely slide to center rather than inserting the untested Hegarty. Nick Martin (below) would then ascend to the top spot at right guard.

Right Guard:
- 5th-year senior Mike Golic, Jr. 6'3" 295 pounds (1)
- Sophomore Nick Martin, 6'4" 290 pounds (4)
- Freshman Mark Harrell, 6'4" 287 pounds (4)
Notes: Harrell moved to guard after Brad Carrico agreed to a medical scholarship waiver in August camp. A true freshman, Harrell will likely return to compete at center in the spring.

Right Tackle:
- Junior Christian Lombard, 6'5" 309 pounds (3)
- Junior Tate Nichols, 6'8" 320 pounds (3)
- Sophomore Nick Martin, 6'4" 290 pounds (4)
Notes: Nichols injured his knee in August camp's third week and will not play vs. Navy. Two notable walk-ons populate the offensive front as well, 6'7" 294-pound grad student Dennis Mahoney (a four-year veteran of the roster) and 6'6" 270-pound senior Matt Tansey.

(Y) Tight End:
- Senior Tyler Eifert, 6'6" 251 pounds (2)
- Sophomore Ben Koyack, 6'5" 253 pounds (3) or
- Sophomore Troy Niklas, 6'7" 260 pounds (3)
- Senior Jake Golic, 6'4" 245 pounds (2)
Notes: Junior Alex Welch (3) was lost for the season due to an ACL tear midway through camp.

(Z) Slot Receiver:
- Senior Robby Toma, 5'9" 185 pounds (1)
- Senior Theo Riddick, 5'11" 200 pounds (1)
- Freshman Davonte' Neal, 5'9" 171 pounds (4/5)
Notes: Riddick will likely see time at each wide receiver position, but primarily running back, thus, his additional listing here. Should injuries occur, X receiver T.J. Jones is a likely slot option.

(X) Wide Receiver:
- Junior T.J. Jones, 5'11" 190 pounds (2)
- Junior Daniel Smith, 6'4" 215 pounds (2)
- Freshman Justin Ferguson, 6'2" 196 pounds (4/5)
Notes: 6'4" 225-pound junior Luke Massa (3) remains on the roster but tore his ACL in early April. He'll likely be part of the "Red Army" signaling in plays for Irish quarterbacks.

(W) Wide Receiver:
- 5th-year senior John Goodman, 6'3" 215 pounds (1)
- Sophomore DaVaris Daniels, 6'2" 190 pounds (4)
- Freshman Chris Brown, 6'2" 172 pounds (4/5)
Notes: Brown appears closer to game action than his classmate Justin Ferguson in their true freshmen seasons.

Running Back:
- Senior Cierre Wood, 6'0" 215 pounds (2)
- Senior Theo Riddick, 5'11" 200 pounds (1)
- Sophomore George Atkinson, 6'1" 210 pounds (3)
- Sophomore Amir Carlisle, 5'10" 185 pounds (3)
- Sophomore Cam McDaniel, 5'10" 195 pounds (3)
- Freshman Will Mahone, 5'10" 211 pounds (4/5)
Notes: McDaniel also cross trains as a defensive back; Carlisle has been unable to consistently practice during August camp due to inflammation in his ankle following (March) surgery for a non-contact injury.

Quarterback:
- Sophomore Everett Golson, 6'0" 185 pounds (4) or
- Junior Andrew Hendrix, 6'2, 220 pounds (3)
- Freshman Gunner Kiel, 6'4" 210 pounds (4/5)
- Junior Tommy Rees, 6'2" 210 pounds (2)
Notes: Rees will rejoin the active roster following the team's trip to Ireland.
