Although he is just starting to hit the radar, South Bend St. Jospeh's junior quarterback Mathew Monserez has a chance to draw interest from colleges over the next two years.
At 6'6, 191-lbs, he has the size. According to their coaching staff, he has the arm, and has passed for 842 yards and three touchdowns already this year.
"It's my first year starting. It's been a real good year. A lot of it is just confidence. Being the quarterback, you've got to walk into battle with a lot of confidence. From day one, my coaches told me to play confident, you're good enough for the job, so don't second guess yourself."
Since he has only started four games and did not attend any summer camps, Monserez is still under the recruiting radar, but as he begins to put himself on the map, he would be happy to hear from anyone.
"To be honest, I'm really open to anything. Any school that shows interest in me, I'll definitely give it a look."
That said, there is a local school he would like to hear from.
"I've always loved Notre Dame. Growing up, I always followed Notre Dame."
Monserez and St. Joseph (3-1) take on South Bend Adams this week.
