IE Quick Take: Tarean Folston

Wednesday's addition of Cocoa, Fla., running back Tarean Folston gave Notre Dame another four-star backfield weapon with huge upside. Irisheyes.com recruiting analyst Dave Berk offers his initial take on the newest member of the Irish class.

Things continue to come up golden for Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly as he builds one of the top recruiting classes in the country. The addition of Scout.com four-star running back Tarean Folston gives the Irish a one-two punch at running back for the future, as fellow Sunshine State product and four-star runner Greg Bryant committed to the class back in December.

WHAT TO LIKE

Folston shows great speed and the ability to hit the corner and head upfield with a quick plant of the foot and a great burst. While the majority of his runs are outside, several carries we saw holes open up inside with Folston quickly hitting it with his great vision. Folston is a great complement to the other back in the Irish recruiting class Greg Bryant.

WHAT MAY CONCERN YOU

Everything points to Folston being 100-percent solid with the Irish and we believe it. However, his pledge to the Irish is not going to stop others from coming after the talented back. Right now there are not too many things to have a concern about.

BOTTOM LINE

The combination of Folston and Bryant shows the strength of Brian Kelly and his staff in building depth at each position on the field. Speed continues to be brought into the program and that will pay off in the years to come. Folston is a great athlete capable of playing on both sides of the ball and make plays.

While Folston has great natural talent he'll also need to work on the finer parts of his game showing the willingness to block when called upon. With his above average hands, Folston will give the Irish another target out of the backfield in the passing game.
