After doing well with in-state recruiting in the 2013 class, Indiana has set its sights on several nearby members of the 2014 class. On Wednesday night, the Hoosiers offered Decatur Central's 6'7, 260-lb offensive tackle Lukayas McNeil.
"It was surprising," he admitted. "I was happy. During halftime of the basketball game, the head coach Kevin Wilson, he came over and offered me."
Not only was it a first offer, but it was from a school McNeil has gotten to see quite a bit of and all of it has been positive thus far.
"Right now, from what I've seen, I like it. I like everything I've seen there and I like the weight room."
He also had a chance to spend time with offensive line coach Greg Frey.
"Yeah, I talked to him a lot. He was a nice guy, cool and open."
Right now, because he is busy with basketball, McNeil is unsure if he will take any other visits. There have been schools coming to see him and sending more mail though.
"I have a lot like Iowa, Ball State just came up, and a few others."
McNeil had previously reported hearing from Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Florida State, Louisville, Michigan State and Notre Dame.
