Andrew Trumbetti loved Notre Dame since summer. Now, he will spend his college days being Irish.
The 6-foot-5, 250-pound four-star defensive end made the decision during Saturday's unofficial junior day.
Scout 300 member tweeted "Officially Part of the Notre Dame family," and then texted IrishEyes.com to confirm he committed.
Trumbetti, who is the 19th-rated prospect at his position in the class, chose Notre Dame over Florida and Stanford, but he was a Notre Dame lean since picking up an offer last summer.
“I think they feel like I’m pretty much ready to commit there,” Trumbetti told IrishEyes.com last month. “Not that it isn’t true, but before I do I really want to go visit other places. I don’t want to set my decision on (seeing) one school. I can’t visit one place and be like, ‘Woo, I want to go here.’ ”
After getting his offer last summer, Trumbetti talked about what it meant.
“I’ve been a fan my whole life, so it was pretty awesome getting an offer from the team I cheered for since I was a kid,” he said at the time. “It’s pretty cool. A lot of people in my family liked them, but I’ve been a huge fan.”
