Kyle Allen, the nation's No. 1 quarterback, trimmed his list to five schools and Notre Dame made the cut.

Kyle Allen, the nation’s No. 1 quarterback, narrowed his list to five schools and Notre Dame, in desperate need of quarterback in the class, made the cut.

So did Ohio State, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M and ULCA.

It comes as little surprise the Irish are one of five schools to make the list for the five-Star Allen, who plays at Desert Mountain High (Scottsdale, Ariz.), since he is slated to visit campus early next month but it is still comforting to know what visit will take place.

Allen, who is 6-foot-3, 195 pounds, announced his trimmed list via twitter.

“First I would like to thank all the coaches and staff that have given me hospitality and time in this process. Amazing people!” Allen tweeted. “Now, I will release my top five, in no rank or order.” He then listed the schools still under consideration.
