Crossroads Classic extended through 2016

The Crossroads Classic basketball event was extended today as Indiana's four premiere basketball programs will meet in Indianapolis through 2016.

The athletic directors at Notre Dame, Indiana, Purdue, and Butler announced on Monday that they have agreed to extend the Crossroads Classic through 2016.

The Classic started in 2011 and brings the four Indiana schools together for a yearly non-conference basketball showcase. It is hosted at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

The event has become popular with Indiana college basketball fans, drawing a sellout crowd of 19,000 people in its first two years.

The Crossroads Classic is a tribute to the Hoosier Classic, a former event hosted at Butler's Hinkle Fieldhouse where the four schools played a non-conference doubleheader.

This year's matchups pit Notre Dame against Indiana and Purdue against Butler on December 14, 2013.

The Irish will face Purdue in the 2014 Crossroads Classic, Indiana in 2015, and the Boilermakers again in 2016.
