Christian Enjoys South Bend

Jalen Christian

Damascus (Md.) High athlete Jalen Christian was at Notre Dame last week and he spoke to IrishEyes.com about his trip.

Damascus (Md.) High athlete Jalen Christian had to cancel a visit to Michigan last week, but he was still able to make an unofficial visit to Notre Dame on Thursday and see the campus for the first time.

And although the Irish didn't extend an offer to add to Christian's already impressive list, the class of 2015 prospect still considered it a successful trip.

"They want to get to know me a little more before offering but it should come soon, hopefully," Christian said. "Overall, I am glad I was able to visit because I was able to learn more about their history, values , faith-based culture, and the football program."

Schools are recruiting the 5-foot-10, 175-pound Christian for a variety of positions, including cornerback and receiver. The Irish, though, like Christian as a slot receiver.

"They like me on offense at slot because they don't really have that receiver who can play running back, too," Christian said. "That's what they said."

Christian added he liked the coaching staff because they were "very straight forward (and) they want me to make the right decision."

When it came to walking around campus, Christian said he took in the beauty but one thing was missing that will bring him back for another visit.

"A lot of things stood out," he said. "The campus and education stood out but I wanted to see how the players and coaches interact with each other, but the players were on break."

Christian's offer list includes Maryland, Nebraska, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Ohio State, South Carolina, Virginia, Virginia Tech, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
