Irish offer is 'big' for five-star lineman

Defensive end Keisean Lucier-South of Orange County, California talks about his most recent offer from the Irish.

Notre Dame offered one of the best in the nation in the 2015 class when the Irish extended an offer to five-star defensive end Keisean Lucier-South of Orange County (Calif.) Lutheran.

"It feels great to get this offer," Lucier-South said. "It is a big deal to me and my family to get an offer from Notre Dame because it's one of the best schools in the country and a very hard school to get into."

Lucier-South said he learned about his offer from Notre Dame when Irish assistant Mike Denbrock showed up at his school.

"I hadn't talked to any of the coaches before the offer, but I had been receiving a lot of mail," Lucier-South said. "Today (Thursday) Coach Denbrock stopped by my school and offered me a scholarship."

Lucier-South now has 15 offers, but no favorites. He has made visits to UCLA and USC this season.

"I don't have a clue (who my favorites are)," Lucier-South said. "I'm just enjoying recruiting right now. Academics are my main priority and then I'll see how I like the school atmosphere."

The 6-foot-6, 215-pound athlete says a few schools on his list like him as an outside linebacker.

"Notre Dame is recruiting me to play outside linebacker," Lucier-South. "That's something I could do. I have those type of skills."

Lucier-South has 34 tackles and six sacks on the sesson thus far. Other schools he named as potentially close to offering include LSU, Michigan, Mississippi State and Ole Miss.
