Over the course of the last two games the Notre Dame defense seemed to come to life, limiting USC and Air Force to 330 and 339 yards total offense, respectively, and 10 points apiece. So coming into Saturday's game against the Irish, Navy head coach Ken Niumatalolo knew that his squad was going to have to play near-perfect football in order to upend Notre Dame on the road…and they almost did.

The Midshipmen controlled the time of possession, didn't lose any turnovers or commit any penalties and were a perfect four-for-four in the red zone. Yet, Navy came up just short, falling to No.25-ranked Notre Dame, 38-34, on a chilly, rain-soaked afternoon.
