Coney has Irish and Gators at the top

Linebacker Te'von Coney of Palm Beach Gardens (Fla.) High recaps his Irish Invasion experience at Notre Dame. He also explains which two schools in his top ten are sitting at the top.

Notre Dame hosted one of its top linebacker prospects in the class of 2015 when Te'Von Coney visited for Irish Invasion.

"It was a great time," Coney said. "I really liked talking with the players and the coaches and getting to know them all. I met a lot of new people."

"The academics are what really impress me about Notre Dame," Coney added. "The value of the degree means lot."

Coney was joined in South Bend by his father and his coach. Though he didn't participate in the Friday night workout, he spent a majority of time on the sidelines talking with fellow Irish linebacker target, Justin Hilliard.

"He's a really cool guy," Coney said. "Very well-spoken and a great guy. We talked about how cool it would be if we played in college together."

Coney also spent time with a few Irish assistants.

"I talked a lot with Coach (Bob) Elliott, Coach (Brian) VanGorder, and Coach (Tony) Alford," Coney said. "They were telling me how great of a fit I think that I would be at Notre Dame. They said I would have an opportunity to play early at the WILL position. I think I would in pretty well in Notre Dame's defense the way they were explaining it."

Coney currently has a top 10, but there are two schools that are at the top.

"Florida and Notre Dame are my two favorites right now," Coney said. "I've still got to see Ohio State, Tennessee, Auburn and Alabama this summer, too."

After Coney makes his round of visits in June and July, he plans to cut his list in August.

"I will cut it down to five or three in August and take official visits," Coney said.

Coney is a three-star prospect and is ranked as the No. 12 middle linebacker in the class of 2015.
