Top sophomore DL interested in Notre Dame

Rising junior four-star defensive lineman Josh King of Darien (Ill.) Hinsdale South recaps a trip to Notre Dame in June.

One of the top defensive linemen in the class of 2016 is four-star defensive end Josh King of Darien (Ill.) Hinsdale South. King already boasts offers from Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oregon, Penn State, Syracuse and Wisconsin.

King visited Notre Dame in June.

"I'm not ready to name favorites yet, but I loved my Notre Dame visit," King said. "Notre Dame is different most schools because of its religious background and emphasis on academics. Plus, they have a great foundation in football."

King said the Irish staff focused much of their attention on how he would fit into Notre Dame's scheme as a pass rusher.

"They think I am a really good at my pass rush," King said. "They like how quickly I can get by the offensive line and to the quarterback to make the tackle in open space."

King plans to visit Ohio State and Michigan in July. However, his focus right now is on his junior season.

"I think the most important thing for me right now is my junior season and improving as a football player," King said. "I really don't want to focus too much on recruiting and stuff quite yet."

When it does come time to place more attention on where he'll attend college, the 6-foot-6, 245-pound defensive end is looking for a trio of primary factors.

"I want to play for a big-time program that also has a good base in academics," King said. "I would also like to feel at home with the atmosphere of the school."
