In fact, Middleton has set up his first visit. "I'm visiting South Carolina on January 16th. I haven't set up any other visits yet but I'll do that soon." Middleton also has offers from Clemson, North Carolina, Memphis, and East Carolina.
Middleton has also been busy staying in good shape. "I've been doing a lot of running. I have to make sure I keep my wind. I was picked to play in the Shrine Bowl on December 20th so I have to make sure I stay in shape." The Shrine Bowl is an annual All Star game where the best prep football players of South Carolina, play the best prep football players of North Carolina. "It was an honor to be picked for the game, and there is a lot of pride involved. I just want to go out and help my team win."
Middleton has been hearing from Notre Dame lately but has not received an offer yet. "I talked to Coach Deidrick the other day. We've talked a few times. He's a real nice guy. He told me that they've been evaluating my film, and they like it but they are also recruiting a few other linebackers. He asked for me to send more film, so that's what I'm going to do.
Comments:Don't expect Middleton to pull the trigger any time soon. His official to South Carolina isn't until the middle of January and he's said he's in no big rush to decide. If Notre Dame offers, expect them to at least pull even with South Carolina who is in the lead right now. It's not a secret that Middleton really likes Notre Dame, and middle linebacker is a position where there are few bodies on the Irish roster. IrishEyes will stay in touch with Middleton in case things change.
