Kevin Lopina had an impressive junior season. "I had 300 yards rushing in 6.5 games.. 44-80 passing, for 760 yards, four passing touchdowns, eight rushing," said Lopina.
Lopina has landed his first offer already. "Arizona State has already offered me," said Lopina. "Illinois, Northwestern and Oregon State say they are close to offering me."
The Concord, Calif. native says he keeps in touch with coaches via e-mail usually. "Illinois, Northwestern and Oregon State usually," said Lopina. "We e-mail each other quite a bit."
Summer camps are heating up and Lopina plans to attend three at this point. “Tomorrow I’ll be going to visit Illinois, Northwestern, and Oregon State; I’m going to all of their camps," said Lopina. "I've been unofficial visits to Nebraska and Arizona State."
An erly decision is likely for Lopina. “Anytime this summer before the season, so I can focus on the season,” said Lopina when asked when he might decide.
“The people, coaches, the area are all important," Lopina said when asked what the important factors will be in his decision. "At Arizona State, Tempe is great. Weather also has some to do with my decision. I don’t want to play in terribly cold weather.”
Does Lopina have any favorites? “My favorites are pretty much Arizona state, Oregon State, Northwestern, Illinois, and Alabama. he said. "I like Notre Dame a lot, but they don’t send me much stuff, so I will have to find out about the camp, also my schedule is booked so that’s another reason I may not go to ND camp.”
Lopina recently scored a 930 on his SAT and carries a 2.8 g.p.a.
Comments: It appears Lopina is no longer attending Notre Dame camp. The Irish don't appear to be recruiting him heavily. We can probably scratch Lopina off the list at this point.
