Notre Dame has 22 known commitments for the 2006 recruiting class at this time. The Irish could take as many as six additional high school prospects. Tight end Konrad Reuland is high on the Irish priority list and he hosted the Notre Dame head coach last Sunday.
"It went really well," Reuland said of Notre Dame's in-home recruiting visit. "Coach Weis was over on Sunday. It was him and coach Polian. He was over for about six hours. We made dinner for him and everything. My high school coach came over and had desert with us.
"For the most part it's Notre Dame, USC and UCLA," Reuland replied when asked to list the schools he was still considering. "Coach Coker was down yesterday from Miami and Nebraska is coming out tomorrow. I'm still kind of looking at those two schools, and they're coming out to sway my decision, so we'll see how that goes. But I'm pretty much down the three schools."
Two of his favorite schools, USC and UCLA will be playing for the PAC-10 championship at the Los Angles Coliseum.
"I'll be there," Reuland said of his plans to watch the PAC-10 battle. "I might do the official visit for USC, but I'm not sure yet. There's a little conflict on Sunday so I'm not sure I'll be able to do the whole official visit. I can't go up on Friday because we have a game that night."
That would be Reuland's last planned official visit and a decision could be coming shortly after he returns.
"I'm pretty sure I'll have something before Christmas, but I'm not 100 percent," Reuland said of the timing of his decision. "If it's down to two schools and I need more time to think about it, I'm not going to rush into it and make a bad decision. But I think I have a pretty good opinion of two or three schools. I think a lot of things will unfold in the next week.
