With Boston College’s loss to Florida State on Saturday night, Ohio State becomes the third No. 1 team in four weeks.

1. Ohio State (10-0) (2): The Buckeyes hammered Wisconsin in Madison, 38-21.

2. LSU (8-1) (3): Overcame turnovers and won an emotional contest at Alabama, 41-34.

3. Oklahoma (8-1) (4): The Sooners blasted Texas A&M 42-14, perhaps putting the exclamation point on the firing of Dennis Franchione.

4. Oregon (8-1) (6): Dennis Dixon is the best player in the country, throwing for four touchdown passes in the big win over previously undefeated Arizona State.

5. Kansas (9-0) (9): I’m done disrespecting the Jayhawks and almost put them higher. What a statement, hammering Nebraska, 76-39.

6. West Virginia (7-1) (7): The Mountaineers were idle last weekend.

7. Missouri (8-1) (8): Chase Daniel made a Heisman statement, throwing for 422 yards and five touchdowns in the 55-10 victory over Colorado.

8. Boston College (8-1) (1): Matt Ryan threw three interceptions in the Eagles first loss of the season, a 27-17 defeat to Florida State.

9. Arizona State (8-1) (5): Rudy Carpenter threw for 379 yards in the 35-23 loss at Oregon, the team’s first of the season.

:10. Texas (8-2) (10): Ryan Bailey’s 40-yard field goal as time expired gave the Longhorns a 38-35 victory at Oklahoma State.

11. Georgia (7-2) (11): Knowshon Moreno ran for 196 yards and three touchdowns in the 44-34 win over Troy.

12. Virginia Tech (7-2) (12): The Hokies were all over host Georgia Tech last Thursday night, defeating the Yellow Jackets, 27-3.

13. Michigan (8-2) (13): Chad Henne came back from injury to throw for four touchdown passes in the 28-24 come-from-behind win over Michigan State.

14. USC (7-2) (14): John David Booty also returned from injury, and threw two touchdown passes in the 24-3 victory over Oregon State.

15. Auburn (7-3) (15): The Tigers cruised past Tennessee Tech, 35-3.

16. Hawaii (8-0) (16): The Warriors were idle last weekend, and host Fresno State this week.

17. Connecticut (8-1) (18): The Huskies continue to impress, defeating Rutgers, 38-19.

18. Florida (6-3) (20): Percy Harvin became the first Gator to rush and receive for over a 100 yards in one game, as Florida handled Vanderbilt, 49-22.

19. Tennessee (6-3) (22): The Vols hammered Louisiana Lafayette, 59-7.

20. Alabama (6-3) (17): The Tide nearly knocked off LSU, falling 41-34.

21. Boise State (8-1) (23): Taylor Tharp completed 80 percent of his passes and threw three touchdown passes in the 42-7 win over San Jose St.

22. Clemson (7-2) (25): The Tigers scored 16 points in on 39-second span, blowing out Duke, 47-10.

23. Kentucky (6-3) (UR): The Wildcats were idle, but with losses by Wake Forest and South Carolina, Kentucky gets back in the top-25.

24. Virginia (8-2) (UR): Following a loss at N.C. State, the Cavaliers bounced back to beat Wake Forest, 17-16.

25. California (6-3) (UR): The Bears, ranked in the top-10 not too long ago, ended a three-game losing streak with a 20-17 victory over Washington State.

Under consideration: Florida State, Cincinnati and Penn State.

Dropped out: South Florida (19), Wake Forest (21), South Carolina (24).
