McFarland Gets Offer From "Way Up There"

JaMarcus McFarland heard that a coach from Notre Dame called on Monday afternoon, but the 6-foot-3, 285-pound four-star defensive tackle didn't know what they wanted until he got home. McFarland's Lufkin (Texas) High head coach doesn't allow his kids out of class to get the phone.

When the junior got home, he quickly found out what the Irish coach wanted to tell him. "I came home and my mom was looking at a scholarship offer," JaMarcus McFarland said. He will be one of the best players to come out of Texas in the 2009 recruiting class. "She was pretty happy about it. "We get a lot of mail around here, but offers standout.
