Guard Kyle McAlarney continues to have the hot hand, draining ten three-pointers en route to a 32-point performance against Poland. For the second straight game McAlarney was named as the game’s Molten MVP. McAlarney scored 14 points in the first half before knocking down six more trifectas in the second half.
It was no blowout, but the victory was a lot easier than Thursday’s, 90-88 win over Ireland. Notre Dame concludes its exhibition tour with a matchup against Iceland on Saturday afternoon.
"We're excited to come away with a victory tonight as we were once again tested by a very good team," head coach Mike Brey said. "We'll be looking to wrap up our Ireland tour with a strong effort against Iceland. We have a quick turnaround since that game is in the afternoon, but this will be good test for us. I was pleased with our level of intensity tonight against Poland and how we responded after a tough game against Ireland the previous night."
Luke Harangody and Ryan Ayers contributed with 13 points each while Luke Zeller added 10. The Irish held a 48-35 lead at halftime, but that was cut to seven, 64-57 at the end of the third quarter. The Irish quickly got started in the fourth quarter and held a double-digit lead throughout the final quarter.
