Report: Ianello New Akron Head Coach

Irish lose Ianello as coaching search continues in South Bend.

GoZips.com, the official site of Akron Athletics, has announced a noon press conference today to name former Irish assistant head coach/offense, wide receivers coach and recruiting coordinator Rob Ianello as the new head man of the Zips.

Ianello had been running Notre Dame's football operations since Charlie Weis' departure on December 1. He is a nationally respected recruiting coordinator and helped develop record-setting receivers Jeff Samardzija, Maurice Stovall, Rhema McKnight, Michael Floyd, and Golden Tate during his five-year tenure as the the team's wide receivers coach.
