Dukes has goals

Colerain High School (Cincinnati, Ohio) has produced a number of Division I players over the past several years and this year is no different. Cornerback Chris Dukes is getting looks from a number of programs and Notre Dame is one of them.

Chris Dukes (5-foot-9, 160-pounds) made a visit to Notre Dame last fall when the Irish played USC, and he will make a return visit in a little more than a week. Dukes will join his teammate Jarrett Grace in South Bend for a junior day on March 20.

"Last time I got to speak with coach Kelly was when he came to our school the week of signing day," Dukes said. "I'll be up there for the junior day though. I'm going to go up to the junior day to try to find out where I stand with the coaching staff and the program.

"My interest in Notre Dame is high right now because of coach Kelly. The program is very good. It's Notre Dame… one of the top programs in the country. Having coach Kelly there, the program will be even better, because he turns around every program that's he been at, from Central Michigan, to Cincinnati, and I think he can do the same at Notre Dame."

Some players dream of getting a chance to play college football, and other players make a plan to do so. While it is a dream for Chris to continue his football career after high school, he also charted his future.

"Two years ago my goal was to start my sophomore year and that ended up going well," Dulkes explained. "After I started my goal was to get a scholarship. I've got that and now that I've been making my goals, my next goal is to get a state championship ring.

Pittsburgh, Boston College, Bowling Green, Central Michigan, and Ohio are the programs that have extended Dukes scholarship offers. Although he's happy with what he has, he'd like to add a few more before he makes his decision.

"I should be visiting Michigan, West Virginia, Indiana and Boston College this spring and summer," Dukes said. "I'll probably wait until after my senior season to make my announcement. I want to take all of my official visits and then that's when I'll decide where I want to go."
