Hogan Hits the Road

Kevin Hogan probably won't learn much about Notre Dame when he attends the junior day this weekend, but he would like to get an idea of whether he's going to fit into the plans of the new coaching staff. The quarterback from Gonzaga College High School (Washington, D.C.) currently has four scholarship offers and he'd like to add the Irish to that list after this weekend.

Kevin Hogan (6-foot-4, 200-pounds) had a solid relationship built with the former Notre Dame coaching staff, and he's hoping this weekend will allow him to build one with Brian Kelly and his new staff.

"It started back when coach Weis was there," Hogan replied when asked about his contact with Notre Dame. "Coach Powlus from the old staff came out last October With the new staff, coach Cooks is recruiting my area. I got in touch with him, about a month ago and started up a relationship.

"I'm coming out for the junior day this weekend. I already know a bunch about the school, so I'm using this weekend to meet the new staff, and find out if I fit in, if I fit in at all and what they're going to do with the program."

The Irish have offered four quarterbacks for the 2011 recruiting class, and Hogan would like to find out if he's in line for an offer as well.

"I'm not really sure where I stand in the order of quarterbacks," Hogan explained. "I talked with coach Cooks, but I'm not really sure what's going to happen. When I get out there I'm going to talk to the coaches and figure all that out."

Hogan does have scholarship offers from Maryland, Virginia, Rutgers and Boston College. He is also receiving interest from Florida, Duke, Pittsburgh, UConn, Wake Forest, and Illinois.

"I've visited Virginia and Maryland junior days, and after this weekend at Notre Dame I'm going to Florida for a spring practice," he said. "I'm going to try to hit Duke and Wake Forest. In April I'm going to hit Boston College for a junior day.

"I guess I'm going to try to get as many offers as I can, and then visit the schools and make a decision. I'm definitely going to visit all the schools that have offered me. I'll be able to figure out how I fit in at those schools. If more offers come along, I guess that would mean more visits."
