Dukes Hits ND Junior Day

Chris Dukes was familiar with Brian Kelly and his staff when they were at Cincinnati, but now that they are in South Bend, he wanted to get an idea of what they would do with the Notre Dame football program. The cornerback from Colerain High School (Cincinnati, Ohio) was in town this weekend for the junior day and he's impressed with the future of the program.

When Chris Dukes (5-foot-9, 160-pounds) walked into the meeting rooms on Saturday and saw the Notre Dame coaching staff, he didn't need to any introductions, but he did need a second to make sure he was at the right place.

"It went pretty good," dukes said of the Notre Dame junior day. "I got a chance to talk to the new staff, and I got to talk to coach Hinton. It was an interesting change seeing them in Notre Dame gear, because I was used to seeing them in Bearcat gear for so long… but it was a good change.

"Overall I had a pretty good time up there. Coach Hinton and a student from Notre Dame showed me and Jarrett (Grace) around the whole campus. They showed us around the dorms, and we got to meet a couple of the priests when we were walking around the dorms. They showed us ‘Touchdown Jesus' and they took us into the locker room. We got a chance to touch the ‘Play Like a Champion' sign, we went onto the field and then went and ate up in the press box. It was a pretty nice time up there.

"I think I got everything that I expected to get out of the visit actually," he said. "They answered all the questions that I had. They showed us around and showed us a good time. They pretty much showed us everything and explained everything that we wanted to know about Notre Dame.

Probably the only thing Dukes didn't get from the visit that he was hoping to see was a scholarship offer with his name on it.

"I didn't get a chance to talk to coach Hinton about the offer," Chris explained. "But he gave me his card so that we could stay in contact with each other and talk about things."

Dukes' next unofficial visit will be to Boston College on April 10.
