The Notre Dame defense was set to take the practice field for the first time this week against the show team. Darrin Walls heard the words out of first-year defensive coordinator Corwin Brown’s mouth that every player fighting for a starting position is waiting to hear. “Walls, get in there with the first group.” The sophomore cornerback cracked a quick smile as he trotted onto the field.
