A backup linebacker, Hoyte’s greatest potential in on special-teams coverage units.

Biography:

2005: Brandon is a great athlete, has an incredible intensity level and will tirelessly pursue the ball. Hoyte is huge hitter and has knocked several opponents out the game. He is a great run stuffer, but can be a liability against the pass. This year he’ll be the leader on a fairly young defense. We expect Brandon will have a huge year.

2004: Brandon was 2nd on the team in both tackles (74) and TFL (8). He was solid throughout the year and evolved into a force at linebacker. He had a career high, 16 tackles against Navy. Hoyte had the best game of his career against Tennessee where he registered 11 tackles, including one for a loss and several big hits. He forced 2 fumbles in the opener against BYU. He was limited to six starts because Notre Dame started 6 games in a nickel defense.

2003: Hoyte was the starting WLB(Will) for the Irish and finished second on the team with 74 tackles and 3rd in tackles for loss. He had 11 tackles against WSU and 10 against Michigan. Brandon struggled in the middle of the year to establish himself as a playmaker and at times disappeared. It was his first year starting so it's difficult to judge his performances harshly...He simply set the bar very high after the success he had in 02'

2002: Started his first game against Maryland and again the following week against Purdue when C. Watson was out due to an illness. Finished 6th on the team in tackles, and played in all 13 games.

2001: Did not play as a freshman LB.

High School: Started at both LB and QB. 90 tackles as senior and 145 tackles and seven sacks as a junior.
Final Schools:Virginia, Syracuse Rutgers, Temple
