2005: After being behind two MLB that will play in the NFL (C. Watson, M. Goolsby) Mays’ time has come. He’s got very good size and is a huge hitter. He’s outstanding against the run, but may be a liability in coverage. Teamed with B. Hoyte, the Irish haven’t had bigger hitters at LB in years. We expect Mays will pick up right where Goolsby left off last year…we expect Irish fans to ask, “Why didn’t this guy play more?”

2004: Mays was once again stuck in a numbers game at MLB, behind Mike Goolsby. The coaching staff did rotate Corey into the lineup in most games, and he was part of Notre Dame’s goal line package. He made a huge hit on the goal line against MSU causing a fumble. Mays was once again a standout on a number of special teams and delivered several big hits on kick coverage.

2003: Mays made his first start against WSU and played in every game...Corey had a solid year backing up Courtney Watson at MLB(Mike)...his first career sack came against Stanford.

2002: Played in 10 games mostly on special teams, recording 4 tackles. He was slowed by injuries toward the end of the season. Forced a fumble against FSU.

2001: Did not play as a freshman MLB.

High School: USA Today 2nd team All-American. Recorded 144 tackles, five sacks as a senior... had 85 tackles, 14 sacks, 10 TFL, 3 FR, and 2 FC. First player from Chicago Public League to play at Notre Dame since All-American Chris Zorich (1988-90).
