2005: Stovall really stepped up his game last season, and the only thing that slowed him were a few injuries. He’s a tall rangy receiver that has enough speed to get deep. He had been inconsistent during his first two years, but last year he caught everything that was thrown his way…even making the difficult catch. We expect Maurice to have a big year of 30 plus catches and 500 plus yeards.
2004: Stovall had a very good year as he was 3rd on the team in receptions (21) and 4th in total receiving yards (313). Unfortunately he was slowed by injury. He missed the Washington and Purdue games and second halves of the MSU and Tennessee. Stovall’s best game came against Michigan, where he caught 5 passes for 82 yards. He had 3 receptions for 59 yards against Stanford, which included a huge 49-yard catch in the 3rd quarter that ignited the Irish offense. He had a couple of big plays against Tennessee, but left the game when he caught a helmet to the knee. His lone TD reception came on a 17 yard pass from Quinn.
2003: Sophomore jinx? After a solid freshman year, Stovall struggled to establish himself in his second year...He was 3rd on the team in recpts and 2nd in receiving yardage. He turned a short pass into an 85-yard TD reception against Purdue, but for most of the season he was inconsistent. He started 3 games and played in all 12. He was the gunner on the punting team and registered 10 tackles.
2002: Played in every game and logged 146 minutes. Caught his first TD against MSU. Also made his first Sports Illustrated cover with that catch. Had a solid year, but more will be expected of him next year.
High School: Insiders ranked him the #11 WR in the nation.Played in the U.S. Army All-America . USA Today 1st team All-American. Student Sports All-American. Played WR and FS. Caught 31 passes for 743 yards and 9 TDs... 56 tackles, one sack, 11 INTs(returned 5 for TD)...returned 4 punts for TDs as senior. Participated in track recording a 23.1 200M and 50.7 400M. Final Schools: Ga Tech, Michigan, Tennessee, Virginia
